Privacy Policy

ClipKeep (“we”, “us”) makes a clipboard-history and sticky-notes app for macOS. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data.

1. What stays on your Mac

ClipKeep works fully on-device. Your clipboard history and any notes you do not sync are stored locally on your Mac and are never sent to us. Auto-paste and global hotkeys run locally using macOS Accessibility and send nothing to our servers.

2. What we collect when you create an account

ClipKeep requires an account to use the app. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. When you sign in, we receive and store:

  • A unique account identifier (from Apple or Google, or derived from your email address).
  • Your email address, display name, and profile photo URL, if you choose to provide them. (Profile photos may be loaded from Gravatar based on your email.)

We never receive your Apple or Google password. If you create an email and password account, your password is stored only as a salted, one-way hash — never in plain text — and we cannot recover it.

3. Notes you choose to sync

When sync is enabled, the notes you sync (their titles and contents) are stored on our servers so they can appear on your other devices. Notes you do not sync never leave your Mac.

4. Device and security information

To sync securely and keep your account safe, we store:

  • A device identifier derived from your Mac’s hardware (a one-way hash — we cannot reverse it to your hardware serial), plus the device name and platform.
  • A device public key used for Secure Enclave attestation (the private key never leaves your Mac).
  • IP addresses associated with your sessions, kept for security auditing and abuse prevention.

5. Payments

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store (In-App Purchase). Apple handles your payment details directly — we never see or store them. We store only your subscription status so we know what you’re entitled to.

6. Diagnostics

ClipKeep can send anonymous, aggregated usage events to help us fix bugs and improve the app. These never include your note contents or clipboard. Diagnostics are optional and can be turned off at any time in Settings → Privacy.

7. How we use information

  • To sync your notes across your Macs.
  • To apply your subscription entitlement.
  • To keep your account secure and prevent fraud and account sharing.
  • To provide support and improve the app.

8. Who we share with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that run ClipKeep on our behalf: Apple and Google (sign-in), Apple (App Store payments), and our hosting and database providers (Fly.io and Supabase). We may disclose information if required by law.

9. Retention and deleting your account

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. Deleting your account removes your account record, synced notes, devices, and sessions from our servers and cancels any active subscription. This cannot be undone. Notes stored only on your Mac are not affected.

10. Security

All sync traffic uses HTTPS. We use hardware-anchored device identity and Secure Enclave attestation to keep access limited to your devices. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

11. Children

ClipKeep is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account in-app, or contact us for any other request.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
